Architectural Committee

Why Do I Have to Request Approval from the Architectural Committee?
 
The Covenants, Conditions and Restrictions (CC&Rs) and the Architectural Manual apply to all homes and condominiums at McNary. They are part of the deed to your property. Per the Architectural Manual, "No building, fence, wall, patio, deck or other structure or improvement shall be commenced, erected, or maintained upon the property; nor shall any exterior addition to, or change or alteration therein be made; nor shall any landscaping of any portion of the property be commenced until plans and specifications have been submitted to and approved in writing by the Architectural Committee." This is key to maintaining the beauty and high standards of appearance that keep McNary a desirable place to live. This can also help maintain your property values.
 
This means that most work on the outside of your house, either on a structure or landscaping, must be approved in writing by the Architectural Committee before the work begins. Even if you are replacing something, it's good to check with the Committee to make sure it still meets requirements.
 
The Architectural Manual outlines the requirements for external structures and landscaping. It is adopted by the Board of Directors and updated from time to time. 
 
How Do I Request Approval from the Architectural Committee?
 
To obtain approval for your project from the Architectural Committee, you can:
  • Click on the Contact Us link to send an email and attachments. Select "Architectural Committee" in the "Send to" box, and describe in as much detail as possible the work you would like to do. OR
  • Print this form External Changes and Improvements Request Form, fill it out, scan it to an electronic file, and email it using the Contact Us link. OR
  • Print this form, fill it out, then mail or deliver the form to the General Manager.
In response to your request, the General Manager or an Architectural Committee member will contact you to obtain any further information needed, or will reply with a letter approving or not approving the work. The Architectural Committee has up to 30 days to review your request, but usually responds within two to three weeks.
 
Who is the Architectural Committee
 
The Architectural Committee is composed of volunteers who are your neighbors. They review mosts requests via email, and may meet as needed to review requests.
